❄️ Melty christmas and... a new year? ❄️
this was one of my first university projects that involved real photography and CGI at the same time.We had to insert a 3D object (for which I chose this little melting snowman) into a real scenery.
As you can see our little friend is placed on top of an camping-oven, that has an high use of energy. As result of the rising temperature underneath his snowglobe, Mr. Snowman slowly starts to melt.
I wanted to symbolize global warming with this little illustration. Poles are melting and snowy christmas-times are getting more rare as the years go by. How much longer will mother earth endure this situation?
The snowman was created in 3DsMax and then exported to Zbrush to give him that melty shape.
Later i textured him with Substance Painter.
I recreated in 3DsMax the oven and studio where we shot the real object.. Here you can see the studio set-up.
Render elements exported to Photoshop to create a more vivid image. I used a different HDRi for the background, which helped give a more realistic touch to the final productLater I used the 3D shadows of the oven surface to project them onto the HDRi photograph.
